Expert setup's, repair's and custom work on acoustic and electric instruments by professional luthier's.
A good setup usually means the difference between a guitar that plays well and one that doesn't. Even inexpensive guitars can be setup to play right.
A great resource for guitar songbooks, tablature, sheet music, chords and lyrics. Includes a utility that allows you to change the key signature of a song.
Musician's Friend is a great resource for buying musical instruments on the web. You'll find an extensive selection of guitars, basses, keyboards, drums and percussion, live sound equipment, recording software and studio gear anywhere. If you can't find it at MusiciansFriend.com, it probably doesn't exist.
Okay, so they really don't have a website and besides music gear they sell jewlery, tools, sporting goods and lawn mowers. They are a pawn shop afterall. I have been in this place many, many times and I've gotten some very good deals on "previously owned" musical equipment and guitars. They are great folks who are very knowledeable and always willing to make a deal.
The "Musicians" section under Community is a great way to advertise your gig, find a gig. find other musicians and get your music listened to.
The "Musical Instruments" section under For Sale is the first place you should go whenever you want to buy or sell music gear.
Music Instrument Retail Stores
Not every Best Buy store has a musical instruments department, but the ones that do offer brand name instruments and gear at very competive prices. The sales people are very professional and knowledgeable. They are salaried employee's and not on commission which makes for a very mellow, no pressure, shopping experience. It is smaller in size than the other "big box" retailers, so it is much easier to try out a new Les Paul without having some young kid blasting out "Smoke On The Water" on a Squire Bullet right next to you.
I like Sam Ash. They are a big store, but they seem to have a small store demeaner. They don't conduct business like they are the only store in town and they seem to get a lot of repeat business because of the way in which they conduct themselves and not because a "we will meet or beat any competitor's price" attitude.
